Mar , 15th 2010 | ARRL SSB and VHF/UHF Region I. Contest

in March belongs to VHF and HF together. Jozef OM3GI run away ARRL SSB contest and VHF/UHF team consisted of OM2VL,OM3BH,OM5CM and OM5KM took part in I.subregional VHF/UHF contest. At first we had to check and repair HF antenna switch (TNX OM2KW) and each VHF/UHF antenna system because of severe winter. We had to put out cart which holds 180cm dish and transverter. Before VHF contest we made in time to pack beverages which were useless. We didnt pack US beverage only which was used by Jozef during ARRL SSB. During the first night on HF  OM3GI made about 900 QSO. VHF/UHF bands were half-empty because of  winter.

Laci OM2VL despite those made over 100 QSO during the first hour on 144M. OM5CM and OM5KM afflicted on 23 and 70cm and QSOs increased there very slowly. High level of noise on 23cm incurred that Palo had to close his hamshack . We werent QRV from evening to morning. In the end we eliminated noise  3 or 4 hours before end of contest. We found out that noise was produced by bad network  UTP cable. After that we could continue. Direction into Germany was the most nourishing. On 2m we made more than 170 DL. Finally we logged 565QSO on 2m,129QSO on 70cm and only 28QSO on 23cm. See: Reports below

Jozef continued in ARRL contest. 20m was opened widely to west coast US, but 15m wasnt opened like in CW. Signals on fifteen came through max. from midle-west. Jozef made only a few CA and AZ calls. He finished with over 3700QSO and 254 US/VE states.
